Roku TVs have a screen mirroring feature natively. The feature is used for accepting casting requests from other smaller screens making the Roku TV a receiver during the mirroring process.
How to add allowed devices to Roku screen mirroring? Here is a step-by-step guide for iPhone, Android, and PC users.
First of all, we need to know what devices are compatible with Roku screen mirroring, including those source and receiver devices.
iPhones that support AirPlay 2 are available to use built-in screen mirroring and be added to Roku TVs.
Supported OS: iOS 12.3 or later
To establish a casting connection via AirPlay 2, your Roku TV should be running Roku OS 9.4 or higher. Here are supported TV models.
In general, Android mobile phones that run Android 10.0+ and have the screen mirroring feature within can be added to Roku. For example, Samsung Smart View, Cast, or Screen Cast.
Then, what Roku TVs are compatible?
Note: Here, we list devices that support built-in screen mirroring only.
You don't have to add the iPhone to the TV first for screen mirroring. The compatibility enables to use AirPlay once turn on.
To mirror from iPhone to Roku, you can follow these steps:
1) Make sure your iPhone and Roku TV are on the same network for seamless connectivity.
2) Enable AirPlay on your Roku TV by going to Settings > Apple AirPlay and HomeKit > AirPlay.
3) Open the Control Center on your iPhone. Then tap Screen Mirroring (icon that has two rectangles stacked).
4) Select your Roku device from the list.
This method works if your Roku TV supports AirPlay.
1) Enable the screen mirroring mode on Roku. Go to Settings > System > Screen Mirroring > Screen Mirroring Mode > Prompt or Always Allow.
2) Use the same network on your Android phone and TV.
3) On your mobile, swipe down the phone screen from the top.
4) Tap Smart View/Cast/Screen Mirroring or similar terms to start mirroring.
5) Select your Roku TV from the list.
6) On your TV, you will see a pop-up notifying the request. Select Allow.
Still, your PC and TV should use the same Wi-Fi.
1) Press Windows + A on your Windows PC.
2) Click on Connect or Cast.
3) Select your Roku TV from the list of available devices.
Alternatively, press Windows + K to open the wireless display window and the select the TV name.
To add a Mac for Roku screen mirroring, you can use AirPlay, which is supported by newer Roku models.
1) On your Mac, click the Control Center icon in the menu bar.
2) Select Screen Mirroring.
3) Choose the TV name.
Alternatively, you can connect your Macbook to Roku by using an HDMI cable.
