LG and Samsung are global leaders in consumer electronics producing a range of devices like smartphones, televisions, and home appliances. If you are their user, for example, having a Samsung smartphone and an LG TV, and need to connect them for screen mirroring, how well do the devices perform? Are they compatible? If yes, how to do it? Continue and learn from this guide.
These days, with the advancement of communications technology, the barrier between different devices transmitting data gradually disappears.
Although LG TVs run webOS as their operating system while Samsung phones use Android, they can still interact with each other through technologies like Miracast, Bluetooth, Chromecast, and more. Both LG and Samsung devices are compatible with those techniques, allowing for media sharing, screen mirroring, and control.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung’s Smart View is recommended by the LG official to screen share on LG TVs.
Samsung Smart View is a feature built into Samsung smartphones to wirelessly connect mobile devices to compatible TVs, including LG.
You need to keep your phone and TV on the same Wi-Fi network. And, the phone will discover available devices automatically.
Miracast is a wireless display standard that allows supported devices to connect and stream content with each other. It's especially useful for mirroring or extending the screen from a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or PC to your TV.
To use it, you need to plug the Chromecast device into your LG TV and turn on related settings for it first. Then, tap the screen mirroring icon on your phone to search the TV. Once they are connected, you can cast videos.
The Google Home app serves as the central hub for managing and controlling smart home devices. It has a casting feature to stream content from phone, tablet, or computer to compatible devices like smart TVs.
Samsung and LG devices have embraced integration with Google Home. You can install the app on your phone via the Google Play Store.
As recommended by the official website, we will use Smart View as an example. Below is a step-by-step guide for Samsung phone screen mirroring to LG TV.
Press the Settings button on the LG remote. Open All Settings > General > Network > Wi-Fi Connection.
Turn it on and choose the network. Then, enter the password to join the Wi-Fi.
You can check the network by tapping Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
Swipe down from the top screen. You will see the Smart View icon.
Tap it and you will see a list of discovered devices.
Tap the LG TV name on the list to complete the connection.
Next, a pop-up of 'Start casting with Smart View?' will show up. Tap 'Start now.'
Now, your Samsung phone will start screen mirroring to the LG TV.
