Motorola fans must be thrilled to hear the news - the company launches an open beta program for its advanced Moto AI features on November 27, 2024. The old telecom band is trying to catch the unstoppable AI trend, which could be a key for Motorola to regain its leadership in the market. Although the available AI features are somewhat limited by this time, with the aim of making more assistant-like smartphones, the subsequent upgrades of Motorola phones are worth expecting.
Screen mirroring could be one on Motorola’s Smart Actions list. As a key feature that meets various working and entertaining purposes, it allows users to wirelessly display content on larger screens like TVs.
Well, back to the current feature. How does screen mirroring work on Motorola phones? What are the methods to screen cast Motorola to smart TVs and PCs? No need to go everywhere. Continue the article.
Yes. Most modern Motorola smartphones come equipped with screen mirroring.
But to tell which models do not support the feature, it can be confirmed that models before 2013 are not compatible. For example:
The screen mirroring feature (i.e., Miracast) was first introduced to Android OS 4.2 in 2013. That is, if the Motorola device that supports old Android versions and was produced before 2013 does not have a screencast built-in.
Learn more: Miracast, the standard to transmit content across devices, has been used in Samsung TVs since 2016 and in Windows 8.1. However, not all device models produced later are supported; you should check it in the system settings case by case.
Let’s see how to screen mirror on Motorola. Here are methods to cast to TVs and PCs.
Here, we will take Motorola G (2024) as an example.
Step 1: Open the notification panel by swiping down from the top of your phone screen.
Step 2: Find the Screen Cast icon. If you don’t see it, tap Edit to add it to the panel.
Step 3: Tap the icon, and it will search available devices automatically.
Step 4: Next, tap the device name.
Tips: You should use the same WiFi on both your phone and TV.
Smart Connect, the software, can be used to connect Motorola phones and smart TVs. If you have a Miracast-compatible or Chromecast TV, you will have a seamless screen mirroring experience.
Step 1: Install Smart Connect on your phone.
Step 2: Then, tap Displays to search for available devices.
Step 3: When you see the device name, tap it to finish connecting.
Step 4: Screen mirroring will be active automatically after you tap the device.
Moto Connect is a smartphone app that you can find on Motorola phones. It’s used to connect your phone to nearby displays but requires a Miracast adapter.
Step 1: Plug the Miracast adapter into your TV. And make sure that you have the TV in a WiFi that is the same as your phone.
Step 2: On your TV, search Miracast in More Apps. Launch the app then.
Step 3: Go to your Motorola phone and open the Moto Connect app. The TV name will soon appear.
Step 4: Tap the TV name to start screen mirroring.
Tips: Some TV models do not support a Miracast device, so it may cause your screen casting to fail, such as old devices of Samsung, Vizio, TCL, LG, and Panasonic.
Google Home is a screen mirroring solution recommended by Motorola officially. It’s best for connecting your phone to smart TVs and other smart appliances. To use this feature, please check the OS version first. It is only available on devices running Android 8.0 or later.
Step 1: Join the same WiFi network on both your TV and phone.
Step 2: Open Google Home app on your phone. Go to Devices > + Add. Wait for searching.
Step 3: When the device name is showing up and marked as available, tap Cast > Cast screen.
You can install Smart Connect via Microsoft Apps for PC usage. It helps pair Motorola phones with Windows 10/11 devices, and with multiple features like App streaming.
Step 1: Install Smart Connect on your PC and your Motorola phone.
Step 2: Go to the network settings on the two devices and connect them to the same WiFi.
Step 3: Open Smart Connect on your PC. You will see a QR code on the dashboard.
Step 4: Now, open Smart Connect on your phone. Tap Pair a device - Get started > Tap Scan QR code to pair another device in Add devices.
Step 5: Use your phone to scan the QR code on the PC dashboard.
Step 6: Click App streaming to start screen mirroring.
Tips: You can check if your devices are compatible with Smart Connect here.
Similar to the previous method, you need to install the Kingshiper app on both your phone and PC. But compared to that, Kingshiper Screen Mirroring is available to Windows 7 and later.
Step 1: Use the same network on your phone and PC.
Step 2: After installation, open Kingshiper on the two devices.
Step 3: You can see the PC device on your phone. Tap it and the casting feature will be activated at once.
