It's quite successful for WhatsApp being a messaging app. Not only the personal one, but also the WhatsApp Business, users are increasing at an astonishing rate (added 811.74 million users in three years). Although its market is growing, WhatsApp has yet to fully address user requirements. People are seeking solutions to record WhatsApp voice and video calls.

Whatever the reason is, one thing is clear - WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business do not have a recording feature within. This is different from apps like Skype. If you want to record conversations on WhatsApp, you need to rely on the device’s recording feature or third-party software.

If you’re using the WhatsApp mobile app (including WhatsApp Business) on iPhone, try these three methods. Each one has its own focus.

1. Swipe down the screen to access the Control Center.
2. Long press the Screen Recording button.
3. Turn on Microphone.
4. Switch to WhatsApp and start a video call.
5. Swipe down the screen again and tap Screen Recording.
6. Stop recording by tapping the red bar (upper left corner).
Tips: To ensure the video quality, you can go to Settings > Camera > Record Video > Choose from 1080p HD at 60 fps, or 4K at 60 fps.
Note: It’s possible that iPhone’s built-in screen recorder does not record audio along with video during Whatsapp video calls, even if the microphone is on and the app has access. If you have this problem, it’s becasuse WhatsApp blocks the recording feature.
1. Connect the iPhone to Mac using a Lightning-to-USB cable.
2. Allow access when a pop-up appears on the Mac.
3. Trust this computer on the iPhone.
4. Open QuickTime Player via Finder > Applications.
5. In QuickTime Player, go to File > New Movie Recording.
6. Click the dropdown menu (next to Record)and select the iPhone.
7. Allow the access. You will see your iPhone screen mirrored on your Mac.
8. Select the iPhone as the microphone source.
9. Click the Record button.
10. Open WhatsApp and start a video call.
1. Install the app on your iPhone.
2. Tap the red button in the middle once you open the app.
3. Select Record it when the Screen Recording feature auto pops up.
4. Turn on the microphone.
5. Click Start Recording.
6. Go to WhatsApp.
7. Tap the red bar to stop recording.
Note: The face recording feature cannot be used during the WhatsApp video call. It works as a post-production and overlays a small window onto the recorded video and resumes recording.
To record WhatsApp calls on Android phones, you can utilize the built-in recording feature and also third-party apps. Although the methods are similar to those iOS devices, compatibility issues will be more complex due to Android systems and numerous phone brands.

1. Swipe down the phone screen twice to access the Quick Settings panel.
2. Tap the Screen Recorder icon.
(If you don't see it, tap the pencil icon to add it )
3. Choose record audio and microphone when the pop-up appears.
4. Tap Start to begin recording.
5. Open WhatsApp.
6. Rre-open the Quick Settings panel and tap Stop to end the recording.
Note: Here, I use Pixel phone as a demonstration. Steps can be a little different depending on the Android version and phone you use. But the basics are the same. You can search for the official tutorial of the mobile phone brand to enable the built-in screen recording.
1. Open the app.
2. Install Cube ACR Helper if needed (devices running Android 9.0+ need to install it).
3. Grant permissions.
4. Turn on Cube ACR App Connector in Accessibility Settings.
5. Tap Continue and then choose WhatsApp from the list.
6. Initiate a call on WhatsApp.
7. A small widget will appear. Tap it to start recording the call.
Tips: To use the auto-recording feature, you can tap the menu icon (upper left corner) > Settings > Recording > turn on the Autorecording button.
For some reason, you may want to record your Android phone calls on the PC. Not that easy, but there is still a way to go. You can first pair your phone to the PC; then mirror the phone screen on the computer and screen record the mirrored window.
1. Install Links to Windows on your Android phone (some brands have it pre-installed).
2. Keep your phone and PC on the same WiFi.
3. Open Phone Link on your computer and log into your Microsoft account.
4. Choose Android; a QR code will show up.
5. Use your phone to scan it and then finish the connection steps.
6. In the Phone Link dashboard, click on Apps > Open phone screen.
7. Open WhatsApp on the phone.
8. Press Windows key + Alt + R to start recording.
Since the WhatsApp mobile app excels in on-the-go messaging, its desktop version offers facilitates cross-device synchronization and improves workflow efficiency. If you’re using the WhatsApp desktop app, recording calls on computers can be very easy.
Said in Advance:
1. WhatsApp Desktop app is for personal and business use. Thus, whether you need to record a call for work or personal reasons, just installing WhatsApp desktop is enough.
2. WhatsApp web is another way to use the tool on a computer. However, it does not support audio or video calls directly. When it comes to recording WhatsApp calls on PCs, you should install the desktop software.
1. Download and launch the WhatsApp desktop software.
2. On your smartphone, also open the WhatsApp app.
3. Tap the three-dot > Linked Devices > Link a Device.
4. Scan the QR code displayed on your PC.
5. Make a video or voice call using the WhatsApp desktop.
6. Press Win + Alt + R to start recording.
7. Click the stop icon to end the recording.
8. Find the recording video in the Videos > Captures folder.
Tips: When recording WhatsApp calls on PC, please ensure the microphone icon is enabled in the Capture widgets. And the system audio will be captured automatically.

More, OBS is an ideal option if you want to record your webcam and the WhatsApp video call at the same time. You can adjust the PC camera and the call window in its perview area. Here’s how.
Note: The software is available for both Windows and macOS.
1. Set up OBS.
2. Add Sources.
3. Adjust the window size in OBS’s preview area.
4. Start a video call on WhatsApp.

Tips: If you use a microphone to make a voice or video call, remember to add Audio Input Capture and Output Capture in OBS Sources. And the select the device you’re using. Otherwise, there will be no sound.
As you finished setting up the WhatsApp Mac version, you can:

3. Select “Built-in Microphone.”
